Miniature Bark canoe made with all of the correct details and self-harvested materials.

Gunnels and caps are split and shaved cedar with Birch thwarts and birch pegs. The skin is summer bark with spruce root lashings and split laminated cedar stems. Interior is all split and shaved cedar with side by side planks - ribs bent with hot water, molded in the hull, and pressure fit just like a full sized canoe. Gummed with natural Spruce resin tempered with fat and charcoal (it is watertight and happy to get wet)

Lines inspired by Abenaki Sporting canoes but simplified due to the very small size. It is reminiscent of the model/Toy canoes of Toma Joseph and other canoe builders that the maker has observed. it captures the materials, techniques and construction details without being a true scale model - best for gentle play
